Buckle Backlash
As always I found [the magazine] to be very informative
and entertaining. BUT, I was a little disappointed
in your ad for car insurance (March/April, page
18). The ad depicts two young adults NOT wearing
their seat belts...not a great message for an organization
that prides itself on safe motoring!
I do want to thank you though, for all the wonderful
service and benefits we have received from our AAA
membership over the years including the tow service
I received today! The driver could not have been
any more helpful and courteous!!

Page 18 in the March/April 2008 Highroads magazine
has an extremely irresponsible photo of two people
about to encounter a traffic accident. Wearing
seatbelts is not only the law but an absolute requirement
from a safety standpoint. Depending on the
severity of this accident, the two people in the
automobile might not be alive to identify themselves
or describe the accident. I really hope that
AAA Auto Insurance encourages the use of seatbelts.

It appears that the photo in the magazine (March/April,
page 18) showed two passengers that were not wearing
seat belts. Please say it isn't so.

For the last 40 years I have always chuckled at the
automobile reviewers that tout the wonders of the
jellybeans that are suppose to thrill us. The
onslaught of gadgets and gizmos that permeate today's
four wheelers is nauseating. For 42 years I have
been a proud owner of a 1966 corvette roadster,
new from the get go. It's the epitome of color,
class, and character. I can fix anything on it
with a screwdriver and a wrench (with my eyes closed).
Your glowing review of today’s corvette is funny.
Those of us who had our fine choice of automobiles
in the 60's remember how great they were. What
comment 40 years from now do you think the culture
will have to say about the junk in this one?

I just read your March/April 2008 issue. You claim
to consider fuel economy as one of your qualifications,
yet not one of your 2008 Top Picks gets over 28 mpg.
Pathetic!

The photo of the fall scene that appeared on page
6 (March/April) should have been credited to Pam
Bosch.
