Amara Hotel
For as many activities as there are in Sedona,
there are about as many places to stay. Down
a long hill just off of Highway 89A is the thoroughly
modern, AAA four diamond, creekside Amara Hotel,
Restaurant & Spa.
Bold colors, dark wood and huge windows overlooking
the banks of Oak Creek lend the Amara a certain
sophistication, while feeling right at home in
the natural surroundings. There are three types
of rooms available: signature rooms, creekside
king rooms, or creekside suites with oversized
whirlpools and awesome views.
Even the standard rooms feature luxuries like
300-thread count Italian linens, rain showers
and soaking tubs and amenities from the onsite
spa. The rooms have a serene quality to them
– simple but not austere, classy but not pretentious.
Sculptures and paintings by local artists adorn
the property, and guest rooms feature striking
black and white prints by Arizona-based photographer
Paula Merrill Belak.
Located just a short walk from uptown Sedona,
with its shops restaurants and galleries, it
is a perfect landing spot if you want to soak
in all Sedona has to offer. If you choose to
stay in, Hundred Rox restaurant features Italian
cuisine with California influences, and a wine
list that has won accolades from Wine Spectator
magazine. Private dining for up to 18 is available
in The Wine Room.
Amara also features a 4000-square-foot spa, which
opened in 2006 and was named a Top 50 Spa by
Premier Spas of the Southwest 2008. The spa also
includes an exercise room, and private yoga classes
— indoors or creekside — are available upon request.
Stroll the grounds and you’ll find a heated outdoor
saltwater pool and hot tub, an outdoor firepit
and direct access to Oak Creek.
Modern, convenient, chic and comfortable, Amara
is a boutique hotel that deserves a spot on any
must-stay list.
