Enforcement on Loop 101
Speeders on the Loop 101 freeway in
Scottsdale could receive citations
from photo enforcement cameras as
early as February. Scottsdale is planning
a pilot photo enforcement program
on a 7.8-mile stretch of the freeway
from just north of the 90th Street
exit to Scottsdale Road. For up to
nine months, the program will test
whether photo enforcement, used in
conjunction with officers on patrol,
is effective on freeways.
The city will issue warnings to speeders
for the first 30 days of the program,
and then begin mailing citations.
Drivers traveling 76 miles per hour
or more – 11 miles per hour
over the limit – will activate
the cameras. AAA Arizona supports
the pilot test as a way to determine
if photo enforcement is effective
and safe on the Loop 101. For more

Seniors
-- Are You A Safe Driver?
Seniors are generally among the safest
drivers on the highway, but let's
face it, age does eventually make
a difference. As we get older we experience
mental and physical changes, which
could affect our driving. Most seniors
want to be sure they are safe drivers.
So, AAA has developed a confidential
home-computer-based system called
Roadwise Review — a CD-ROM that
tests eight physical and mental abilities
that can affect safe driving.
Based on scientific research, Roadwise
Review evaluates strength, flexibility,
vision, working memory, and other
abilities that are important to keep
you safe on the highway. Once you
know your safe driving score, Roadwise
Review advises you about steps you
can take to stay behind the wheel,
safely, for longer.
To purchase, send a check for $3.50

Traffic Safety Poster Contest
AAA’s 62nd annual Traffic Safety
Poster Contest will bring out the
creativity in young people, while
educating them in important traffic
safety issues and giving them a chance
to win $5,000. Students of all ages
illustrate a selected safety category
under the supervision of dedicated
educators and youth leaders. The program
encourages youths to be creative in
slogan design and create memorable
entries, while leading others to safety
through their art and enthusiasm.
Entries are judged locally and nationally.
