TRAFFIC SAFETY
Resolve to Get Your Teen Road Ready

Is your New Year’s Resolution to make sure your teen is prepared to get behind the wheel? If you consider the startling crash statistics for teens, it should be. That’s because that while teens comprise less than 7 percent of the driving population, they account for approximately 13 percent of drivers involved in all deadly crashes. In fact, 16-year-old drivers have higher crash rates than drivers of any other age.

Dare to Prepare, a pre-permit workshop for parents and teens, provides parents and teens with the critical information they need to know before teens take the wheel.  This free 90-minute course will cover:

  • State and national statistics on teen driving
  • Requirements for obtaining a permit and driver’s license, including information on the new Graduated Driver’s License law.
  • Your role and responsibilities as a parent, with sample parent-teen contracts and driving logs
  • Practical tips on teaching teens to drive and what to look for in a driving school
  • Resources and programs that can help
