An Arizona Connection
In the January/February issue, I was pleasantly suprised to see the Ceramica Artistica Solimene featured (“Piles of Tiles,” page 38). But I thought, “What a missed opportunity” when I saw no mention of the building’s Arizona architect, Paolo Soleri. Soleri has a photograph of Ceramica Artistica Solimene at his Cosanti Studios in Scottsdale.

Fuel Economy a Priority?
Shame on you for including the 2006 Hummer H3 in your Test Drive column (January/February, page 46). Its miles-per-gallon rating of 16/19 is in no way “decent gas mileage.” Actually, none of the cars you profiled pass the “mpg test” as far as I’m concerned. Surely we can hold auto manufacturers to a higher standard than the cars you mentioned. AAA should push manufacturers to produce 40 mpg vehicles, rather than fight efforts to establish such a standard. You could help by profiling more efficient vehicles.

“Infamous” Architecture
I am perplexed by the description of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West as his “Infamous Desert Dwellings” (“Wright at Home,” January/February, page 28). Avant garde, innovative, inspiring, genius? Yes. But infamous? I think not.
