Responsibilities: |
AAA Arizona is looking for an experienced Public Relations Specialist responsible for assisting with projecting a positive image of AAA to members and the general public. This person prepares and disseminates information to newspapers, periodicals, television and radio and other forms of media, and is responsible for cultivating key relationships with the media. The Public Relations Specialist also assists with the Club's legislative agenda, and works with the AAA National office on PR, traffic safety, and government relations matters. The Public Affairs Specialist will also serve as back-up spokesperson, when the director and supervisor are unavailable.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with researching, developing and pitching story ideas and composing press releases, using AP style, to increase AAA Arizona’s media exposure.
- Conducting media follow up on pitches and responding quickly to call and emails from media for information.
- Maintaining broadcast and print media files.
- Assisting with event planning and execution.
- Maintaining and updating statewide media lists and departmental databases.
- Maintaining the public affairs/news website and intranet pages.
- Developing and delivering presentations to community groups and organizations, as requested.

Requirements: |
We are looking for professional candidates with…
- 1 to 2 years’ experience in public relations, media or government relations.
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, English or related field required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
- Ability to demonstrate strong writing (AP style), speaking, organizational, problem-solving and administrative skills.
- Must be willing and able to work outside of business hours
- Must be willing and able to travel to Northern and Southern Arizona, as needed, using own transportation.
