Responsibilities:   

 

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for managing and directing the activities of the Purchasing and Logistics Department, including the development and implementation of department goals, staff development, as well as cost reduction measures. They will negotiate vendor contracts, develop process improvements and execute policy changes.

The Purchasing Manager directs and coordinates the procurement, warehousing, inventory control, and distribution of various products or other related services throughout the organization. They oversee the writing, review, awarding, and negotiating contracts of various kinds.  The Purchasing Manager manages vendor relationships and screens potential vendors and makes purchasing decisions critically impacting the financial viability of the agency.  They will analyze purchasing data and metrics and develop recommendations for changes or improvements.

The Purchasing Manager coordinates with and acts as a liaison between other departments and managers regarding purchasing decisions and projects. They act as an internal partner and resource to management and staff, proactively providing information and services to meet the purchasing needs of the organization. 

Requirements:
  • Must have five years' progressive buying responsibility, inventory control and supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred, as well as national certification such as the NAPM recognized CPM.
  • Thorough understanding of cost reduction and inventory control management techniques is required.
  • Must have the ability to manage and direct vendors and perform value analysis
  • Must have the ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a timely fashion
  • Understanding of accounting principles and their relationship to purchasing and inventory control is required.
  • Must have the ability to demonstrate experience in materials management and periodic physical inventory practices
  • Must possess excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with business software suites is required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate success in negotiation to both internal and external customers.
  • Clear demonstration of success in cost reduction resulting from spend analysis and negotiation.
Work Schedule:
M-F 8 am - 5 pm
