AAA Offers $5,000 in Scholarships to Hispanic Students

Phoenix, Ariz., November 18, 2009. Hispanic high school seniors looking to score some extra money for college need look no further. Five thousand dollars in scholarship money is up for grabs for current high school seniors planning to attend any Arizona college or university in the fall of 2010.  AAA Arizona is offering five $1,000 gifts and four-year AAA memberships as part of the ¡Si Se Puede! scholarship.

Spanish for “it can be done,” this is the third year the ¡Si Se Puede! scholarship program has been offered by AAA Arizona. The scholarship is designed to assist five outstanding Hispanic high school graduates in Arizona to obtain a college degree. Each one-time award of $1,000 will be disbursed in the fall to help cover costs for the winners’ tuition and book expenses.  The scholarship will also include a four-year AAA membership for the student.

To be eligible for the award, students must:

  • Be of Hispanic heritage.
  • Be graduating from an Arizona high school in 2010.
  • Be an Arizona resident.
  • Be enrolled full-time in a degree seeking program at an Arizona accredited university or community college at the time of disbursement.
  • Submit a two-page essay describing their career goals and commitment.
  • Display at least a 3.0 High School Grade Point Average.
  • Have a clean driving record
