AAA’s Los Embajadores Group Offers $5,000 in Scholarships

Phoenix, Ariz., March 6, 2008 – High school seniors looking to score some extra money for college need look no further. Five thousand dollars in scholarship money is up for grabs for current high school seniors planning to attend any Arizona college or university in the fall. Los Embajadores (The Ambassadors), an employee affinity group of AAA Arizona, is offering the five $1,000 gifts as part of the ¡Si Se Puede! scholarship.

Spanish for “it can be done,” this is the second year the ¡Si Se Puede! scholarship program has been offered by Los Embajadores. The scholarship is designed to assist five outstanding Hispanic high school graduates in Arizona to obtain a college degree. Each one-time award of $1,000 will be disbursed in the fall to help cover costs for the winners’ tuition and book expenses.

To be eligible for the award, students must:

  • Be of Hispanic heritage.
  • Be graduating from an Arizona high school in 2008.
  • Be an Arizona resident.
  • Be enrolled full-time in a degree seeking program at an Arizona accredited university or community college at the time of disbursement.
  • Apply for federal financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • Submit a two-page essay describing one or two unique accomplishment(s) they are particularly proud of and how it makes them unique.
  • Display at least a 3.0 High School Grade Point Average.
  • Complete the school’s own “General Scholarship Application.”

Interested students should contact their school’s financial aid office for further information, or email publicrelations@arizona.aaa.com if the information is not listed in the school’s scholarship book or website. Students must fill out their school’s general scholarship application by the college’s deadline for initial review. Scholarship offices will confirm the applicants’ eligibility and forward essays to AAA by April 11th for final judging.
