AAA Seeks Input of Teens Who Care

Phoenix, Ariz., February 20, 2008 –AAA Arizona is looking for teens who want to make a difference among their peers to comprise its new Teen Advisory Board. The board will consist of 16- to 18-year-olds in the 10th, 11th or 12th grades who can provide feedback on potential AAA traffic safety initiatives geared towards teenagers.

“Car crashes are the number one cause of teen deaths in the country,” said Traffic Safety Specialist Tim Eiden. “With so many safety campaigns aimed at teens, we want to find the best avenues for spreading traffic safety messages to new drivers. Plus, it’s a great opportunity to develop leadership skills, networking skills and build your community service résumé.”

Members of AAA’s Teen Advisory Board will meet once a month at AAA Headquarters in Phoenix. As an added benefit, each student will receive a certificate of participation as well as a letter of appreciation from AAA Arizona. Students interested in applying can go to www.AAAAZ.com/news/TeenAdvisoryBoard.htm or email teiden@arizona.aaa.com for more details.

AAA Traffic safety staff created the board to solicit input from the teen community on the development and implementation of new driver safety programs. Students selected will have their voice heard by the largest automobile organization in the country. Feedback from the Advisory Board will help AAA develop curriculum, media campaigns, teen safety events and other programs.

AAA Arizona, the Arizona affiliate of AAA, provides automotive, insurance and auto travel services to nearly 775,000 Arizona members.  Annually, AAA’s Emergency Road Service responds to more than 450,000 calls for help on the streets and highways of the state as well as providing insurance, travel, and financial services to AAA members and motorists.  Since its founding in 1927, AAA Arizona has been a leading advocate for the safety and security of all travelers.
