AAA Provides Towing for 18th Annual Copperstate Road Rallye
Phoenix, Ariz.,
April 4, 2008 – AAA Arizona is gearing up to participate in the 18th Annual Bell Lexus Copperstate 1000 Road Rallye, taking place April 6 - 9. AAA Arizona has provided towing services during every Copperstate Rallye event since its inception in 1991.
The Copperstate 1000 is the premier vintage car road rallye in the Southwest. Classic sports cars built before 1973 travel on a breathtaking eastern route throughout southern Arizona, stopping at beautiful sights along the way in Payson, Greer, Safford, Benson and Tucson, before heading back to Phoenix. The Rallye is sponsored by the Men's Arts Council to benefit the Phoenix Art Museum.
Join automobile enthusiasts from around the state and country at the departure April 6 at Tempe Diablo Stadium from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m at the “Field of Dreams” event. On display will be a bevy of beautiful sports cars, including the Shelby 100-h.p. 1949 MG TC, a pair of Shelby GT 350 racers and the 1969 Boss 302 Mustang driven by Peter Revson in the Trans-Am series. Also among the nearly two dozen vintage race cars in a static display will be a 1939 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500, '58 Lister-Jaguar, '64 Brabham, '66 Ford Galaxie stock car, a trio of Chevy Corvettes (including a 1960 LeMans racer), Porsches, a Morgan, a Watson Indy roadster, a Hemi McKee Can Am car built for Richard Petty, and the Arizona-built 1957 Townsend Typhoon, also known as the "Purple People Eater."
