AAA Provides Helpful Tips for Mexico-Bound Travelers

As travelers prepare for upcoming spring and summer getaways, AAA encourages those planning trips to Mexico to heed travel warnings issued by the U.S. State Department. However, the auto club would also like to remind travelers that tourist destinations in Mexico can still be safe to visit, provided they heed certain precautions. To help travelers enjoy their vacation and return home safely, AAA has compiled a list of helpful Mexico travel tips.

If you are planning to be in California anytime soon:

It is illegal for drivers to use a handheld cell phone while driving in California. For drivers under age 18, it will be illegal to use any cell phone or other electronic device while driving. The law still allows drivers of all ages to use a cell phone or other mobile device in case of emergency.

Fines for traffic citations stemming from these laws range from $70 for a first offense to $190 for a repeat offense when court costs and penalties are factored in.
