NATURE WALK
FREE FOREST TOUR IN VOLCANO 9:30 a.m.
This one-hour-nature-walk travels through a lush portion of an
old-growth Hawaiian rain forest on an easy, 1/7-mile loop trail.
The walk introduces individuals, families, and groups to the native
plants and birds of Volcano. Guides focus not only on the biological,
ecological, and geological features of the area, but also the cultural
usages of flora and fauna by native Hawaiians. Meet at Volcano
Art Center's Niaulani Campus in Volcano Village (corner of Kalanikoa & Old

To commemorate Pahoa's centennial year, Main Street Pahoa Association
and area businesses present "Trick Or Treat Through Old Pahoa
Town," All ages welcome.
November 6, 2009 - 9TH ANNUAL BLACK & WHITE
NIGHT
Six blocks of non-stop partying from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. with
stores opening late and offering everything from fashion shows
to free refreshments, this is one of the historic downtown Hilo
district’s biggest events of the year. Twenty to thirty free, live
musical performances as well as chances to meet and greet local
and guest artists and authors make this a great start to the holiday
season. A "Best Dressed" contest awards cash prizes and
the town-wide treasure hunt leads participants in a merry chase

CULTURAL FESTIVAL - Alii Drive Visit Hawaii’s oldest
food festival and the only coffee festival in America. The 39th
annual Kona Coffee Cultural Festival, with nearly 50 events,
kicks-off November 6-15, 2009 bringing the local community together
while attracting thousands of visitors to celebrate Kona’s famous
harvest. The festival features events including art exhibits,
tastings, cupping competition, farm tours, contests and parades.

FESTIVAL AT AMY B.H. GREENWELL ETHNOBOTANICAL GARDEN

This horticultural festival will be held in conjunction with the
Garden’s annual free Native plant give away. Cultural and scientific
experts will come to present information related to the plants

November 7 - 10, 2009 - HAWAII HEALING
GARDEN FESTIVAL
Join the statewide celebration of multi-cultural medicinal and
nutritional plants of Hawaii. Polynesian, Hawaiian, Ayurvedic,
Chinese, Filipino, cultural practitioners and ethno-botanists,
will share their knowledge of Hawaii's rich botanical treasures.
The festival features lectures, tours, workshops, adult and children's
programs, a Healing Arts Fair and cultural entertainment at the
Amy Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden in Captain Cook.

CENTER'S 22ND ANNUAL HOLIDAY CONCERT 7:00 p.m.
This show is Volcano Art Center's yearly holiday gift of family
entertainment to the community, featuring music, singing, dance,
and more. Emceed by a local personality, the show includes local
talent, good cheer, a festive atmosphere, and an audience carol
sing-along as the finale. Kilauea Military Camp Theater in Hawaii
